’Emerging From the Margins: Women’s Experiences in Colonial and Contemporary Nigerian History’ is a narration of historical events, through the perspective of gender. The book covers a period of almost one hundred years and collects the stories of women who fought for their rights, women who fought to make their voices heard and who gave a choice to others who couldn’t. Some of Nigeria’s earliest and latter-days feminists.

The women depicted in the cover are Olufunmilayo Ransome- Kuti (1900 – 1978), Margaret Ekpo (1914 – 2006), Oyinkan Abayomi (1897 – 1990) and Gambo Sawaba (1933 – 2001).
